This client fell in love with the Hailun 178’s tone, touch, and price point, but they wanted something that fit the sleek, modern aesthetic of their home. So, we took on the challenge of creating a completely nickel-plated Hailun grand piano, something that doesn't exist from the factory.

Donny Osmond Custom Digital Conversion Project

We were honored to transform a Yamaha C7 concert grand into a fully integrated digital piano for Donny Osmond’s five-year residency at Harrah’s Casino. Designed to look and feel like a traditional acoustic grand while delivering the reliability and control required for a professional theater environment, this one-of-a-kind instrument retains its original action and pedal feel while housing advanced digital electronics discreetly inside the piano.

Add a Piano Silencer System

Just yesterday I was tuning a piano in someone’s home and he is currently working from home. All of his children are home during the day with him. He mentioned he would really appreciate the option to quiet his acoustic piano. His kids are playing the piano more frequently and also very enthusiastically and he sometimes just needs some peace and quiet. The kids don’t like playing their digital piano, so I told him about another option, called a piano silencer. It can be added to ANY acoustic piano. It gives you the option of flipping a switch and playing the piano with headphones. You still get the touch of an acoustic piano but with all the features of a digital.

Custom Vintage Player Piano

Player pianos are often described as early mechanical computers—music encoded on paper rolls, read by air pressure, translating holes into motion, sound, and rhythm.

This 1922 Gulbransen Upright Player Piano was originally equipped with an electric motor. At the family’s request, the player mechanism was converted to a traditional pneumatic foot-pump system to match the heirloom piano from their childhood.

Heirloom Restoration

Custom Banjo Bar

This custom project brought an old memory—back to an original 1890s Schubert piano. The owner remembered that when she was a child, the piano featured a “banjo bar,” a novelty effect that had been missing for decades. We designed and built a custom banjo bar that can be engaged or disengaged at will. With the banjo bar off, the piano maintains its warm, traditional vintage tone; when engaged, it produces a bright, buzzing resonance reminiscent of early saloon and banjo-inspired sounds, restoring a unique voice this instrument hadn’t shared in generations and showcasing the deeply personal nature of custom piano craftsmanship.

Custom Hammer Hanging

Innovative piano hammer hanging design to accommodate larger damper installation.

Custom hammer hanging improves damper function in overstrung pianos by creating space for longer, more efficient dampers where crossed strings would otherwise interfere. By adding a subtle “swoop” to raise the hammers in critical areas, damper length can be increased significantly, allowing better string contact and faster, cleaner damping. This refined approach, adopted by later manufacturers and used in modern custom work, results in improved tonal control and overall performance.

Rooted in family history

A Family Tradition of Craftsmanship

Brigham Larson Pianos was founded on the belief that a piano is more than an instrument—it is part of a family’s history and a home’s story.

For generations, the Larson family has worked closely with pianists, homeowners, and collectors, restoring and refining pianos with respect for where they’ve been and care for how they’ll be used today.

That heritage shapes our approach to customization: thoughtful, personal, and rooted in craftsmanship. Whether preserving a cherished heirloom or reimagining a piano for a new chapter, we honor each instrument’s past while shaping its future.

"We highly recommend Brigham Larson Pianos. They have been great to work with. Brigham was prompt to get back to us with ideas and options. We are very impressed with the professional refurbishing service that they provide. It is informative to see the meticulous work that they do. Their work area is adjacent to the piano display floor. We are thrilled with the used piano that we purchased. We are glad to have met Brigham and we hold him in high esteem." —Cindy Gust-Jenson
