1980's
Brigham’s love affair with pianos began as a child. As a teen, his father recognized Brigham’s duo of talents in musicianship and craftsmanship.
1980's
He loved to play and he loved to tinker, so seeking out a piano tuning apprenticeship seemed perfect.
1995
In 1995, 17-year-old Brigham paid cash from his sock drawer to hire his first mentor. What he thought would be a cool hobby to help pay for college turned out to be a much more exciting adventure.
1999
Brigham became a Registered Piano Technician!
2000
At BYU, he met and married Karmel.
2001—THEN
Together they bought a 700 SF condo that hosted seven pianos at one time before they expanded into a home.
2025— & NOW!
2002
Always a gigging musician and local performing artist, Brigham lived at the piano day and night. Between his tuning appointments and with first son, baby Ben’s help, he rebuilt his first piano inside a tiny garage in 2002. As each new piano was completed, he would roll them out to the street to sell one by one.
2002
Over the years came many more gigs, more children, and many more pianos. At one time, he had 23 pianos in his home and garage.
2010
12 in Home ...
2010
... + 11 in Garage = 23 Pianos
2010
And so, in 2010, Karmel finally said, “It’s time…. to expand!” and they found a warehouse.
2010
Soon they further expanded into the adjoining space and created the storefront, Brigham Larson Pianos.
2010
2010
2010
2011
The stage soon went up and Brigham’s Concert Series was born right after Joseph’s birth, their 6th.
2011
Immersed in music as a family, it seemed a natural addition to open Brigham’s School of Music and share this joy with others.
2014
In 2014, Brigham and Karmel moved to their current location, the 24,000 SF piano megastore. They also expanded Brigham’s School of Music into Utah Piano Conservatory with dual Piano Academies.
2014
Brigham further expanded the piano shop by increasing his team of talented piano technicians and specializing in the commissioned restoration of vintage family heirloom pianos.
2014
2025—The Larson's
The Larson kids have grown up with music at the heart of their home, and Hailun pianos have been a part of their journey from the start. Then, as young beginners, they sat at the keys exploring melodies, learning their first songs, and developing a love for music on Hailun’s responsive and beautifully crafted instruments. Now, as more experienced musicians, they continue to play, compose, and perform on the same high-quality pianos—pianos that have supported their growth with rich tone, dynamic touch, and lasting durability.
2025
Our greatest joy this year, was gathering together with a lifetime collection of family and friends to celebrate Abby and Beau’s wedding, where we unveiled and gifted them a five-generation heirloom piano from Karmel’s great-grandma, completely restored at our piano shop.
2025

From Our Roots—To Today
From the earliest days of our family’s love for music to the founding of Brigham Larson Pianos, our journey has always been about keeping pianos and family traditions alive. What began as a passion for restoring heirloom instruments has grown into a piano shop that now serves families nationwide—continuing the legacy of music for future generations.
Heirloom Rebuild For Our Daughter!
This 1926 Andrew Kohler upright has been passed down through my wife's family for five generations. Rebuilt in our piano shop, as a wedding gift to our daughter Abby, it’s now ready for another century of music, memories, and family legacy.
The Restoration Process
From Young—to All Grown Up!
Electroplating
Ben: From NASA to Piano Restoration
Ben brings a unique scientific background to our piano shop. With experience in chemistry that includes time at NASA, he now applies his expertise to the world of piano restoration here at Brigham Larson Pianos.
As our in-house chemist, Ben oversees the replating of piano hardware—transforming worn, corroded parts back to their original brilliance. Every hinge, pedal, and piece of hardware goes through his careful process, ensuring both durability and a like-new finish.
By combining advanced chemistry with the craftsmanship of piano rebuilding, Ben helps us preserve the beauty and integrity of heirloom pianos for generations to come.
Piano Moving
Then...
Thayne and Brig have been around pianos their entire lives. Some of their earliest memories are tagging along with Dad to help move instruments—first carrying dollies, pads, and little odds and ends when they were small boys. Over the years, what started as childhood chores turned into real training.
Piano Moving
... and NOW!
Now grown, they’ve developed the skill, strength, and precision it takes to move pianos safely and professionally. With years of hands-on experience under their belts, Thayne and Brig handle everything from navigating narrow staircases to protecting delicate finishes. They’ve grown from eager little helpers into trusted experts who ensure every piano—whether it’s a brand-new grand or a treasured family heirloom—arrives in perfect condition.
