Bell Co Pianos

Bell Co Pianos, founded in 1864 by brothers William and Robert Bell in Guelph, Ontario, quickly established a reputation for high-quality instruments. Initially producing melodeons and reed organs, the company expanded into pianos by 1888. Bell pianos were renowned for their innovative "Grand Repeating Action," which allowed for faster key reset and rapid note repetition, enhancing performance capabilities. Another distinctive feature was the "Orchestral Attachment," which enabled pianists to achieve 16 unique timbral qualities with an additional pedal. These innovations made Bell pianos a popular choice among royalty and world-class performers. Bell Co continued to produce pianos until the assets were sold in 1934, and the brand remained influential in the piano industry through its association with quality and innovation​.
