2015 Hallet Davis 160 Satin Black 5'3" Grand Piano with Self-Playing QRS System

This 2015 Hallet Davis 160 is a 5'3" grand piano that was originally part of our in-house conservatory here at the piano shop. We purchased several of these new when we opened the conservatory, and this is the last one remaining.

Because of that history, we know this piano extremely well. It was used primarily by beginning and intermediate students in a controlled teaching environment—typically just a few hours a day, Monday through Friday. That’s very different from institutional or university use, where pianos are played heavily for long hours by advanced pianists. This piano has had relatively light, well-managed use.

Even so, we’ve gone through and fully refurbished it. That includes detailed action work—hammer reshaping, regulation, alignment, and full servicing—so it performs at a very high level mechanically. At its age, that kind of work brings the action back to a consistent, responsive feel.

On the exterior, the cabinet has been completely refinished from its original high-gloss into a satin black finish. The result is a clean, modern look, and the cosmetic condition is about as good as it gets.

At 5'3", this piano offers a nice balance. You get more tonal depth and bass development than smaller baby grands, along with enough power to fill a room comfortably, while still fitting well in most homes.

As with every piano in my shop, it’s gone through final prep—regulation refinement, voicing, and tuning to A-440—so it performs the way it should.
