The Ahlborn Family Piano!

Brigham Larson Pianos

We have 8 children, 26 grandchildren and 4.6 great grandchildren. I was born in Berkeley, CA, my wife in Provo. Her father and grandfather both were BYU professors. I worked for CES 40 years, we have served 6 senior missions.
When my parents wed in 1939 they were able to purchase 3 cabin lots at Lake Tahoe for $50/each. As a small child I was in an accident that caused a severe head injury and I had to be kept quiet. My parents played Tabernacle Choir recordings to keep me quiet. It wasn’t long before I desired to play the organ but was told I needed to learn piano first. Dad sold the lots for $500 and thought he’d hit the jackpot. They bought this used piano in 1945/6 and I began lessons. I studied piano from age 5-12. Then I was tall enough to begin organ lessons. I have since studied under a wonderful Dutch organist and had lessons from two Tabernacle organists. I have played many great pipe organs in the US and Europe including the Tabernacle Organ. The piano of my childhood has helped siblings, children and grandchildren and accompanied countless family singing activities. But due to being moved numerous times as work has required, it currently needs a lot of help, more than I can afford . but it is a treasured family heirloom. My father once said it must be made of solid gold since the former location of the original lots is now covered by Harrah’s Club Lake Tahoe. Even now, at age 82 I still serve as a church organist .
